1.2 Composition of Retrieval Codes

In Chapter 2, we will list all retrieval codes of PRICE according to the Table order in the publication.

We hope you may easily find the retrieval codes for the data you need in Chapters 2. However, it might be helpful if you are familiar with how we construct these retrieval codes. Generally speaking, each retrieval code has two parts:

(1) The first part consists of a certain English abbreviation to represent a particular concept in the price statistics. A list of these English abbreviations are as follows:

WPI -- Wholesale Price Index.

CPI -- Consumer Price Index.

CPIU -- Urban Consumer Price Index.

MPI -- Import Price Index.

XPI -- Export Price Index.

CCI -- Construction Cost Index.

(2) The second part is a "modifier" following an "@" and placed right behind the initial English abbreviation. These modifiers are usually some English abbreviations representing a certain category in price statistics. For example, WPI can be subdivided as:

WPI@FARMP:WPI -- Farm Products
WPI@FOREP:WPI -- Forest Products
CPI can be subdivided as:

CPI@CLOT:CPI -- Clothing
MPI can be subdivided as:

MPI@MAT:MPI -- Raw Materials
MPI@ENG:MPI -- Energy
XPI can be subdivided as:

XPI@AGIG:XPI -- Agricultural Goods
XPI@INDG:XPI -- Industrial Goods
