1.2 Composition of Retrieval Codes

In Chapter 2, we will list all retrieval codes of MFP according to the Table order in the publication.

We hope you may easily find the retrieval codes for the data you need in Chapter 2. However, it might be helpful if you are familiar with how we construct these retrieval codes. Generally speaking, each retrieval code has two parts:

(1) The first part consists of a certain English abbreviation to represent a particular "concept" in the multifactor productivity statistics. For example:

GK -- Real Gross Fixed Capital Stock
NK -- Real Net Fixed Capital Stock
GKP -- Gross Fixed Capital Stock Productivity
NKP -- Net Fixed Capital Stock Productivity
GKI -- Gross Fixed Capital Intensity GK/L
NKI -- Net Fixed Capital Intensity NK/L
LSH -- Labor Share
KSH -- Capital Share
JTOR -- TORNQVIST Index
JMFP -- Index of Multifactor Productivity
JTFP -- Index of Total Factor Productivity

(2) The second part is a "modifier" following an "@" sign and placed right behind the initial English abbreviation. These modifiers are usually some English abbreviations representing a certain category in multifactor productivity statistics. For example, GK (Real Gross Fixed Capital Stock) can be subdivided as:

GK@MFG: Real Gross Fixed Capital Stock - Manufacturing
GK@EGW: Real Gross Fixed Capital Stock - Electrictiy, Gas & Water
GK@CON: Real Gross Fixed Capital Stock - Construction
GK@SV : Real Gross Fixed Capital Stock - Services

And GK@MFG can be subdivided further as:

GK@FOOD: Real Gross Fixed Capital Stock - Food Manufacturing
GK@TOB : Real Gross Fixed Capital Stock - Tobacco Manufacturing
GK@TEXT: Real Gross Fixed Capital Stock - Textile Mill Products

etc.
