Brief Description of the Education Statistical Databank

This databank consists of 532 time series. The bank's short name is EDU.

Data published in: Education Statistics of the Republic of China, Tables 2-7, 9-13, 15, 17-21.

Data released by: Ministry of Education.

Data updated Annually.

1.2 Composition of Retrieval Codes

In Chapter 2, we will list all retrieval codes of EDU according to the Table order in the publication. In Chapter 3, the same retrieval codes are listed alphabetically.

We hope you may easily find the retrieval codes for the data you need in Chapters 2 and 3. However, it might be helpful if you are familiar with how we construct these retrieval codes. Generally speaking, a retrieval code is composed as follows:

"concept code" + @ + "school code"

For example, NSCH@ELEM is the retrieval code for "Number of Schools -- Elementary school". NSCH is a "concept code" representing "Number of Schools", and ELEM is a "school code" representing "Elementary School".

All the concept codes and school codes are listed below for your references.

(A) Concept Codes

Each table in the Education Statistics of the Republic of China has certain corresponding concept codes. We list all the concept codes below and specify the Table number in the Education Statistics of the Republic of China that contains the statistics for this particular concept:

(2) NPUSCH-- Number of Public School, Table 1.
(3) NTEA-- Number of Full-Time teachers, Table 2.

The school codes are English abbreviations of different kinds of school. A complete list is as follows:
