第10章作業(P4,P8)之補充說明與提示(Hints)

本週作業為第 10 章 Problems 第 4、8 題。

注意：(1)第 4 題 (b) the price level 以四捨五入算到小數點以下第4位。其餘所有計算都算到小數點以下第2位。

        (2) 第 8 題 (c) 題目前面應該加一句話如下：

             "Given the demographic structure of part (b), suppose that government policies, a reduction in discrimination, ....."

提示(Hints)

有關 Problems 第 4 題

"Compounded annually" 即指每年年底算一次利息，利息收入加入成為本金可賺取下一期利息。

"Real value of the payment" 乃以 nominal payment 除以物價指數即可。

當我們說 "indexed the loan"，乃指 nominal interest rate = original interest rate + the inflation rate。如此所算出的 "real value of the payment" 會與 (a) 題略有差別，乃因 continuous formula 與 discrete formula 所算出的些微差別。在實際世界，我們通常「不管它」。

有關 Problems 第 8 題 (a) (b) (c)

The natural rate of unemployment for the entire labor force 乃是 the weighted average of the natural rate of unemployment for each of the groups in the labor force。

有關 Problems 第 8 題 (d)

央行在貨幣政策決策考量時也需 monitor labor market conditions 的變化，不能只單純看失業率的變化。如果失業率下降是因為「自然失業率」的下降，而非 cyclical unemployment 的下降，則央行決策者應當不可誤判景氣太過火熱而採取緊縮貨幣政策來避免發生通貨膨脹。

本題要您從 (b) 與 (c) 兩種不同 labor market conditions 的變化來指出央行 are likely to monitor 的 labor market conditions 資訊。
